Rita LaVoss Townsend, 49, of Louisville, KY passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2016.
She was born to the late Dennis Cody Townsend and Mary Helen Townsend on September 19, 1967. She attended Southern High School. Rita was a loving mother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and watching football (Go Cowboys) and basketball (L1C4 Go Cards). Rita had a personal relationship with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lemanns N. Conn, Jr. and her father, Dennis Townsend.
Rita is survived by her son, Demekus C. Townsend; daughter, Gatara L. Townsend; mother, Mary H. Townsend; step-mother, Deborah Townsend; siblings, Teresa (Byron) Wilkins, Terenia Townsend, Denise Townsend, Marilyn Townsend, Rhonda Townsend, Renee (Robert) Richardson, Jacqueline (Marcus) Hendricks, LeNata Townsend, DeWayne Conner, Deon Conner, Tysha (Adrian) Slappy, and Sharika Crawford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272). Her Funeral Ceremony will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home Thursday.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to the family to help with the funeral expenses.
