Rita Marie (Switter) Siener

Rita Marie (Switter) Siener, 87, of New Albany, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 2, 2017. She was a very social person and loved to travel the world. Rita was a very active volunteer and long-time member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church – St. Joe Hill Campus. She worked at the Census Bureau for many years until her retirement.

Rita was born on September 24, 1930, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Cecilia (Clementz) Switter. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Siener; her son, Philip Siener; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her children, Christine Mikel, Kathleen Nolan (Rev. William F.), Sue Siener (Jim), Jeanette Sharp and Mark Siener (Aisline); daughter in-law, Teena McCartin; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson on the way.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Her Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church – St. Joe Hill Campus (2605 West Saint Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in North Vernon, Indiana.
