Rita Marie (Hardt) Lueke, 84, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 at her home. She was a long time member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs, Indiana and a 1950 graduate of Mercy Academy in Louisville. Rita enjoyed quilting, sewing, and knitting. She was an avid bridge player, and had a love for fishing and bowling. Both Raymond and Rita enjoyed many years of traveling together across the country in their RV.
She was born on May 20, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late George Hardt and Ethel (Bennett) Hardt Bohannon. Rita was also preceded in death by her step-father, "Pops" Bohannon; and recently preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Lueke; and her son, Carl Lueke.
Rita and Raymond were married on January 23, 1954, and shortly thereafter moved to Houston, Texas where they raised their family. In 2000 they returned to Floyds Knobs, Indiana to be closer to family.
Rita is survived by her children, Rose Marie Lueke, Gregory Lueke (Stacey), Teresa Varenhorst (Mark), Barbara King (William), and Steven Lueke (Cheryll Ann); sisters-in-law, Mary Dienes Flood (Chuck), Sr. Frances Lueke, RSM, and Margaret Scheurich (Richard); grandchildren, Meredith, Melissa, Grey, Robby, Melanie, Emily, Audrey, and Grace; and great-grandchildren, Kaidyn, Madison, Aurelia, and Kesley.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
