Richard Martin Wright was born April 23, 1954 in Springfield, KY to Frank Mitchell and Elizabeth Wright. Of this union, they created 14 beautiful children, and Richard was the tenth child.
Richard served in the US Navy and went on to become a dedicated employee at General Electric. He later went on to pursue and master his entrepreneurial endeavors as a carpenter and contractor. Ric loved to beautify homes inside and out which led to creating The Wright Lawn Care Service, LLC. The culmination of all of these skills led to his life-long dream to become a chef and sole owner and operator of a food truck titled Uncle Jack's BBQ & Grill, LLC.
If Ric wasn't watching a University of Louisville basketball or football game, you could find him on a lake enjoying a cold Stroh's beer while trying to snag a fish or two. He would finish those fish off by doing his second love…cooking. Ric was a grill master and awesome cook. Everyone loved his teriyaki ribs and rib tips, as well as that famous "Jack Burger." Everyone will remember not only his great food, caring personality, but his beautiful voice. He would just break into song anywhere, whether it was appropriate or not. Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and The Temptations were just a few of his favorites.
Richard, known to many as "Unc", was a father figure to more people than he ever knew. He touched lives on a daily basis just by being himself and cracking jokes. He seemed to always be happy and hard at work on something. He was the kind of man that would work himself ragged just to make sure everyone around him was okay. Richard would give his last just so others were taken care of, the epitome of a phenomenal man.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Frank Mitchell Wright; brothers, Johnny, Howard Frank, and Charles (Joyce) Wright.
He leaves as his legacy his mother, Elizabeth Wright and only child Tiffany Wright; step children, Andrea Williams (Carl) and Pierre Elliott (Marita); step-grandchildren, Brandon Elliott, Kierra Elliott, Pierre Elliott, III, Tamara Seitz and Carmen Elliott. He is also survived by his 8 sisters and 3 brothers: Mary Frances Cross (Hershal), Bob Wright (Francis), Nettie Jane Overstreet (Burnace), Mary Smith (Milton), James Wright (Gwen), Georgia Ann Winburn (Lawrence), Sarah Bradford, Jean Moran (Chuck), Barbara Dow, Debra Spaulding and Timothy Wright (Florence); a host of nieces, nephews , cousins and partner Luthetta Riles.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway) from 10am-12pm with a Celebration of Ric's life beginning at 12pm.
Richard's deep loving and giving heart was unparalleled and could not be matched. He will always be remembered for his handsome face, beautiful smile, and warm hugs.
