Richard Eugene Witt

Richard Eugene "Dickie" Witt , 71, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019. He was born on January 17, 1948, in New Albany to Herman and Mildred (Barth) Witt, who preceded him in death along with a son, Jeffery Lyn Witt; several brothers; and his companion of 28 years, Marcella Sue King.

He was assisted in the last eleven years by Deanna Frye, Marcella's sister, who saw that all his medical and everyday needs were met. He worked at G. A. Garner Veneer, Inc., in Smithfield, Kentucky, as a laborer before becoming disabled.

He is survived by one brother, Larry (Malinda) Witt of Macon, Georgia; a son, Richard (Connie) Witt, Jr.; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and Marcella's extended family.

The people of Valley Ridge Apartments will miss him walking the neighborhood, as well as his friends who met at Starbuck's in Kroger's at the New Albany Plaza.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany, (3309 Ballard Lane). His Funeral Service will follow at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.

The family requests that contributions in "Dickie's" memory be made to the American Cancer Society or by doing kind deeds for others in the future.
