Richard B. Van Etten

Richard B. Van Etten, 66, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. He retired from AT&T where he worked as a telephone technician and was a member of the C.W.A. Union. Rick had a strong work ethic and was always willing to help out his children. He enjoyed golfing and was a motorcycle enthusiast. Rick liked to travel and regularly attended Bike Week.

He was born on February 11, 1954, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Edgar and Faye (Carlin) Van Etten. Rick was also preceded in death by his brother, Ed Van Etten.

Rick is survived by his wife, Gloria Van Etten; children, Craig Van Etten (Leslie), Stephanie Flaspoehler (Freddie), Amanda Petters, Garrett Petters, Whitney Petters, and Ed Van Etten; sisters, Doris Monks, Marie Fletcher, and Jenny Robertson; grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Sam, Ela, Noah, Forrest, Oliver, and Frances; mother-in-law, Bobby Jean Bowen; and fur babies, Allie, Lilly, Cody, and Emma.

Cremation was chosen following Rick's wishes and a reception of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany).

Contributions in Rick's memory may be made to the Clark County Humane Society (2702 Middle Road, Jeffersonville, IN 47130).
