In Loving Memory of Richard (Rick) V. Schultz
February 10, 1953 – May 19, 2025
With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) V. Schultz, who departed this life peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on February 10, 1953, Rick was a man of extraordinary warmth, talent, and heart. His lifelong love of music began in the fourth grade with the drums and expanded into a mastery of brass instruments while playing in the PRP Band throughout high school. Music remained his constant passion, ultimately becoming his career. He added bass guitar and vocals to his repertoire, bringing joy to countless lives through performance and song.
Rick’s love for life extended well beyond the stage. He was most at peace on the water—whether on a quiet lake or the vast ocean. One of his favorite ways to spend time was aboard his pontoon boat, fishing and enjoying the serenity of nature. He was also an avid sports fan, following NASCAR and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts with unwavering loyalty. A lifelong basketball enthusiast, Rick loved the game and continued playing well into adulthood. He also enjoyed bowling and competed in many leagues over the years with friends and family.
He was a romantic soul at heart, always looking for special ways to show his love. He once wrote a song for his wife, Patricia—a testament to the depth of his affection and creativity. Rick had a natural gift for connecting with others, especially children, who adored him. Whether playing music, telling stories, or simply being present, Rick made people feel valued and loved.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Wanda Schultz. He is survived by his cherished wife, Patricia Schultz; his loving daughter, Jennifer Feeser (Chad); stepdaughters Stephanie Mason (Sam) and Brianna Torrey (Timmy); his loving sister, Theresa Schultz Schwartz (Tad); and seven adored grandchildren: Haley, Skylar, Jacob, Blake, Alex, Millie, and Truett. He also leaves behind a nephew, Robert Schwartz (Taylor) and niece Hannah Schwartz Bistline (Chris) and five great nieces and nephews. His family was the center of his world, and his devotion to them was unwavering.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, immediately followed by the service at 2:00 PM. All are welcome to join in remembering a man whose spirit, kindness, and music will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched.
Though his song has ended, the melody Rick created through a life of love and joy will echo through generations.
