Richard Phillips, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019.
He was born on July 1, 1936 in Frederickstown, Kentucky to the late John Kelly and Mary Catherine (Newton) Phillips. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Janice Phillips and brother, Jerry Phillips.
Richard retired from Total Vend after many years of service. He enjoyed taking his children camping when they were younger and developed a passion for fishing which he carried throughout his life. Richard was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and brother, where his family came first and he made sure they were always taken care of. He was also a member of Southeast Christian Church where he attended the Seekers Bible Study Class.
Richard is survived by his children, Karen Chapman, Craig Phillips (Melody), Daniel Phillips, brothers, Arvie Phillips (Carol), Joe Phillips, David Phillips (Sue), grandchildren, Christopher Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Benjamin Phillips and his beloved poodle Crystal.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions East Chapel (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
Visitation will also be held from 9:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Chapel in the Woods (1401 Moser Rd, Louisville, KY 40299) with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery (4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40213).
The family requests that contributions in Richard's memory be made to the Crusade for Children and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
