Richard J. "Rick" Paulin, Sr., 78, of Louisville passed away Monday, June 15, 2026 at Baptist East Hospital. He was a retired owner of George C. Richards & Company, Neutral Zone, & SpruceLake Woodcrafts. He was a proud American who loved the outdoors including camping & hunting in the Colorado mountains, houseboating on the lake, and he enjoyed taking on new projects. In his later years, he had a passion for handcrafting bourbon barrel furniture & home décor which he would showcase at local farmers markets.
Rick will be remembered most for his sense of humor, quick wit, and his outgoing personality. He was never one to meet a stranger.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy and Raymond Paulin Sr., and his sister, Dottie Lange.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon Paulin; his five children, Ericka Gocke (Mark), Richard Paulin Jr. (Dawn), Wesley Paulin (Sarah), Jeremy Paulin (Stephanie), and Matthew Paulin (Hannah); his brother Raymond Paulin Jr. (Pat); his nine grandchildren, Austin Gocke (Jacklyn), Lindsey Schmoll (Logan), Joey Paulin, Nate Paulin, Jordyn Paulin, Levi Paulin, Alex Paulin, Charlotte Paulin, Madalyn Paulin, and two great-grandchildren, Willow & Lincoln; and a host of family and friends.
A gathering to celebrate Rick's life will be from 3pm to 6:30pm on Thursday, June 25, 2026 with a family and friends sharing time at 6:30pm, all at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
