Richard Newton, Jr.

October 17, 1934 — March 1, 2018

Richard Newton, Jr., age 83 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018. He was a graduate of Fordsville High School and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a State Farm insurance agent for over 59 years, a member of Southeast Christian Church and an avid UofK fan. He served in the National Guard, loved organic gardening and the outdoors and loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and his parents, Richard and Mernia Sanders Newton.

Richard is survived by his loving children, Richard Newton (Connie), Vicki Hoover (Lee), Suzanne Hardin (Terry) and John Newton (Julia); 5 grandchildren, Brandon Thompson (Whitney), Stephanie Newton, Hollie Newton, Matthew Newton (Jessica) and Margaret Newton; 4 great-grandchildren, Lilah, Austin, Landon and Ben; brother, Fred Newton (Linda); and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 3-6 pm Monday, March 5, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, followed by a celebration of Richard's life at 6pm. Visitation will also be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 11:00am to 1:00pm Central Time at Geary Funeral Home, 19 Hartford Street, Fordsville, Kentucky 42343, with a graveside ceremony following at 1:30pm in Roseville Cemetery.
