Richard "Mike" Watts

Richard “Mike” Watts, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on September 15, 2026, in Louisville. He was born on September 3, 1965, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mike will be remembered for the special place he held in the hearts of his family and friends. He was surrounded by those he loved at the time of his passing, and the love shared with him remained at the center of his life.

He had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Adventure Christian Church. Mike was a devoted fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Louisville Cardinals, and he loved trips to the beach. These interests became cherished parts of the memories he leaves behind for those who knew and loved him.

Mike owned and operated the family business, Dick Watts Insurance. Through his work, he built long-term relationships with his customers and was known for the lasting connections he made over the years.

Above all, Mike cherished his family. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Smith Watts; his daughters, Michaela Watts and Caroline Watts; his mother, Janice Watts; his brother, Todd Watts; his aunt, Susan Key; his niece, Molly Watts; and his nephew, Charlie Watts. Each of them was an important part of his life, and his memory will continue to live on in the love they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Watts.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Monday, September 21, at Adventure Christian Church, 3321 Ruckriegel Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky 40299. A Celebration of Life will begin at 7:30 PM.

Mike will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
