Richard Allen Lockwood

Richard Allen Lockwood, aged 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Born on October 22, 1953, in Louisville to William and Audrey (Sykes) Lockwood, Richard was a devoted family man who was known for his warm and friendly nature. A HUGE fan of University of Kentucky sports, he greatly enjoyed football and basketball. His passions extended to music, especially country artists like George Jones and George Strait, and he cherished pastimes such as watching cartoons and westerns, bowling, fishing, and traveling to Red River Gorge.

After dedicating over thirty years to his career at Stry-Lenkoff, Richard retired with pride. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents William C. Lockwood, Sr. and Audrey Marie Lockwood, his wife Rhonda Sue (Kurts) Lockwood, siblings William Lockwood, Jr., Ronnie Lockwood, nephews Charles Walker and William Walker, and great-niece Melody Bennett.

He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Charles Lockwood, Ann Hilbert, Myra (Mike) Pike, Barbara Sheckles, Juanita (Jesse) Walker, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the same location, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

In honor of Richard’s memory, the family kindly requests contributions be made to Kosair Children’s Hospital.
