The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. Psalm 27:1 and 4
Life has a beginning and an end, with a span in between. The proper time from beginning to end is set by God with the time in between for us to live, love, touch someone, and to give Him the Glory.
Richard Henry Gore was born into a close and loving family on April 17, 1949, headed by his father Albert Gore and mother Daisy Gore of Louisville, Kentucky. He attended the Louisville Public School System. He worked for Hillerich & Bradsby for a while, then moved to California where he stayed until 2003. Louisville beaconed and he came home to be close to his family. He professed his faith and was baptized at Bates Memorial Baptist Church in 2004.
Richard fought a good fight and battle, and the battle was won on the evening of October 20, 2021. Our hearts are saddened because of his departure, but God encourages us to remember the peace He leaves and gives to us. Not as the world gives, but as He gives. Richard was at peace as he transitioned into the waiting hands of the Lord. He was preceded in death by both parents, sisters Mamie and Betty, brothers Roger and Harry.
Richard wore many hats-Daddy, Big Daddy, OG, Tricky Dickey, and Baby to name a few. By nature, he was quiet, compassionate, unselfish, loving and kind to those he trusted and cared for. One of his most favorite things in life was food. No leftovers while he was around. He loved to eat!
Richard leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Sounaya Derosier (Ed), Raco Marshall (Shawn) Richana and Retonya Gore; sisters, Mary, Clementine, and Ella; brothers, James and Ernest; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and special loved one, Sharon Maddox and good friend James Billard.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, (714 South Shelby Street). His Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.
