Richard Gautreaux

September 19, 1940 — January 19, 2021

Richard Anthony Gautreaux, 80, of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 19, 2021.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Niria, his daughter Shelisa (spouse Joe), son Rich (spouse Jennifer), and grandchildren Matthew, Abigail, Corinne, Clayton, and Adam. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Adine Gautreaux, and siblings Clarence Gautreaux, Vivian Danos, and Evelyn Chauvin.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He was a friend to everyone and loved to meet and greet new people. He never met a stranger and his kind and gentle personality made everyone love him.

Richard was a 40 year employee of Pan-American Life Insurance Company as a space planer and purchasing agent. His talents are too numerous to list. He used those talents to make and do just about anything, from architecting and customizing his and Niria's dream home in Gretna, Louisiana, to making one-of-a-kind New Orleans streetcar replicas.

Richard will be greatly missed by all. A small family service will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, January 30th at 11 am EST. The mass will be live streamed. You can join us through this link: St. Patrick's Catholic Church livestream. He will be interred at Calvary cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration to help find a cure for FTD.
