Richard Gerald "Dick" Driskell, 81, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and went on to obtain his masters from the University of Iowa. Dick was a professor at Ball State University and was a co-founder of the Actuarial Department. He was a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dick enjoyed jazz music and had a strong love for God, his family and country.
He was born on January 20, 1936 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Charles "Ricky" and Ella "Billie" (Williams) Driskell. Dick is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Olga (Raekes) Driskell; sons, Richard "Gavin" Driskell (Theresa), Niles Devin Driskell (Annalee); grandchildren, Adam, Zachary (Lexi), Seth, Ella, Tyler, and Ruby Driskell.
Visitation will be 1 PM to 6 PM Monday, January 1, 2018, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Tuesday after 10 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (1534 Slate Run Road, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM Tuesday at the church with burial to follow at Silver Creek Cemetery in Sellersburg.
