Listen to Obituary

Richard Deutsch, a cherished husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and compassionate friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana. Born on November 27, 1961, Richard’s life was a testament to loyalty, hard work, and joy.

A proud graduate of New Albany High School, where he achieved honor society, Richard’s roots in his community ran deep. Throughout his career, he worked as a skilled plumber and found great joy in his role as an auctioneer, a profession he embraced for many years with enthusiasm. Yet his influence stretched beyond those trades—Richard was a pioneer in bringing karaoke to the Midwest and became an incredible karaoke DJ, delighting friends and family alike. His passion for music and event hosting was often shared alongside his beloved wife Linda, creating memories that echoed with laughter and song.

Richard’s life was filled with vibrant energy that could fill any room. Those who knew him best remember his fun-loving spirit and honest character. He was hardworking, steadfastly loyal, and his love for his family was the heart of his existence. Watching his wife Linda, his sons Christopher Deutsch (Kim), Bryan Conner (Margo), and daughter Natalie Popplewell grow and succeed, stood as his proudest accomplishment. He also cherished his grandchildren deeply, going to ball games and watching his grandson race cars.

Beyond his professional passions and family devotion, Richard loved fishing, coin collecting, and sharing good times at the casino with friends. These simple pleasures were moments where his warm personality shone brightly, endearing him to many.

Though he leaves behind his loving wife Linda Deutsch; sons Christopher Deutsch (Kim), and Bryan Conner (Margo); Daughter, Natalie Popplewell; grandchildren, Waylon Deutsch, Sutton Deutsch, Walker Deutsch, Andrea Conner, Ezrah Conner, Conner Popplewell, Colton Popplewell; two great-grandchildren, Marshall Conner, and Charlotte Mullinix; and his siblings Ronald Deutsch (Carolyn), Peggy Webb (Bruce), Carol Windell, Tracie Becht (John).

His memory is also tenderly held alongside those who preceded him in death: his mother Martha Deutsch and father Monroe Deutsch. His family’s bond remains unbroken, a living tribute to the man whose love and kindness touched so many hearts.
