Richard John Caporale

Richard John "Popop" Caporale, 71, of Louisville, KY passed away on December 12, 2017. He was an Army Veteran who proudly served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid UofL fan, loved going fishing, cooking and devoted his life to raising his wonderful children and grandchildren. Richard was always a man of his word, willing to help anyone with anything anytime. Richard constantly kept his sense of humor despite all the bumps in the road, there have been many. He raised 5 children and loved his wife endlessly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rita Caporale.

Richard is survived by his wife, Royann; children, Michael (Eric Carter) Caporale, Johnny (Kelly Montgomery) Caporale, Robert (Missy) Caporale, Cathy (Roy) Leggett and Monica Caporale; granddaughter that was like a daughter, Zoee Raye Caporale; grandchildren, Michael John Caporale, Sammy Caporale, Jackson Leggett, Miaa Sunshine Caporale, Casey Owen Caporale, Jenni Christian Caparole, Joel Robert Caporale and Jake Pugh; siblings, Jonita Caporale, George (Colleen) Caporale and Robert Caporale; nephews, Michael Caporale and Neil Caporale; fur baby, Sir Cookie Monster; extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 3pm-8pm and Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 9am-1pm with a celebration of Richard's life beginning at 1pm at the chapel of the funeral home.

A graveside service will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - Central, 2501 Dixie Hwy, Fort Knox, KY.
