Richard Smith Buckner

March 19, 1935 — December 11, 2018

Richard Smith Buckner joined his Heavenly Father on December 11, 2018. Richard was born on March 19, 1935 in Woodburn, KY to the late Walker Thomas Buckner, Sr. and Bertha Susan Smith Buckner. Richard served in the Ky National Guard for about 8 years and received his Honorable Discharge. He spent his lifetime working hard for his family and loving and teaching his family how to be a dedicated husband and father. The most wonderful gift was to take his family to church...thank you dad!!!

Richard married his beloved wife, Josephine Nell Borden in Bowling Green, KY, in 1955 at the Nazarene Church. They were married a blissful 63 years.

Richard also leaves behind a daughter, Deborah Stewart (Richard); a son, Richard David Buckner (Sally); 3 grandchildren, Allison, Laura and Brian; 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Southeast Christian Church 920 Blankenbaker Road Louisville, Ky 40243, in the Fireside Room. A celebration of Richard's life will be 11:00 am, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green at 1pm CST.

Memorial donations may be made to Southeast Christian Church Missionary Fund.
