Reverend Doctor Fredric T. Walls:

Born 10/28/1935 - Died 1/25/2025

Reverend Walls spent his formative years in Greater Los Angeles, and was President of his Class at Fremont High School. After completing studies at Knoxville College, ‘Fred’ graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary. Upon finishing, Fred, along with a few friends, took an around-the-world adventure. Over eight months they hitch-hiked, took ferries, airplanes, ships, and even ox-carts through 36 countries around the world. During the last 50+ years, he traveled to 76 countries and every state of the US, except for Alaska, for either work or personal interest.

Fred was ordained in 1964 by the Los Angeles Presbytery and became the Supply Pastor at Bel-Vue Community Presbyterian Church in LA. In 1965, he also became the Assistant Pastor and took part in the historic March on Montgomery from Selma, Alabama. From 1965 to 1968, he worked as an Associate Dean at Knoxville College and Regional Director of Upward Bound. In 1968, he was called to serve in Houston; he worked as the Houston Urban University Pastor concurrent with being Co-Pastor at University Presbyterian Church. Fred went on to be the Department Chair of Religious Activities at the University Houston from 1973-77; then he spent the next two years as the successful campaign manager for Mickey Leland for the 18th Congressional District Seat in Houston, Texas (replacing the seat of Barbara Jordan). From 1980 until his retirement in 2002, Fred served as the Director of Self Development of People, Presbyterian Church USA, in New York, NY and Louisville, KY- a philanthropic arm of the Presbyterian Church.

Before the term 'lifelong learning' was coined, Fred continued his educational pursuits with extensive coursework outside of his PhD training in leadership, education, training, counseling, urban training and contributed to numerous denominational and ecumenical boards committees and community activities.
