Rev. Louise Williams

Rev. Emma Louise Williams, age 81, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 27, 1944, in Charleston, Missouri, Louise was the daughter of the late Charlie Oscar Froman and Myrtle Irene Froman. She is also preceded in death by her son, Carlos Joe "Joey" Williams II; her brothers, Dee Froman and Charles Froman; and her baby sister, Little Ruth Froman.

Louise was a woman whose heart overflowed with love, patience, and grace. She had a special gift for nurturing others. Babies and children brought her great joy. Over the course of her life, she lovingly raised three generations as a devoted pastor's wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she was a mother to many beyond her own family, and was also known as Sister Williams, mom Williams, and Sister Louise. She was such a light, she witnessed Jesus to everyone she came into contact with. Whether at the grocery store or the doctors office, she always shared love and light with them through Christ and the power of prayer. Mom had a joyful spirit and believed deeply in the power of play. She adored toys and games, always encouraging her children to have fun, use their imagination, and never lose their sense of wonder. Growing up in our home without a TV, we were entertained by our mother. She would help us with our dress up costumes and we would perform plays for her enjoyment. We were very creative because of her. She had a remarkable talent for fixing things. Anything that was broken, she could mend. Her ability to repair, restore, and make things new again was quite remarkable. Whether it was a toy, a household item, or a person's spirit, mom could make it better. She enjoyed restoring and refurbishing old treasures, always able to see the beauty and potential in things others might overlook. A lover of antiques, she valued quality and craftsmanship, believing that anything worth having should be built to last. Louise was also an exceptional cook, known far and wide for her famous cheesecakes and ice cream cakes. Her famous words as anyone would enter her house was always, "Hon, are you hungry?" Her kitchen was always overflowing with warmth and laughter. Her knowledge of music was equally rich; she shared that gift by teaching her daughters to sing and harmonize, filling her home with melody and joy. Gifted with a green thumb, Louise poured her heart into her flowers, nourishing them with prayer and care until they bloomed in radiant beauty. Her flowers, like her life, were a reflection of her gentle hands and faithful spirit. Above all, Louise's greatest devotion was to her family. She loved and cared for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren unconditionally and made it her mission to invest time, love, and wisdom into each of their lives.

Her kindness, patience, and compassion touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting mark on countless hearts. Louise's legacy will live on through the generations she raised, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely. She was the heart of her family and a true example of grace, strength, and unconditional love.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 62 years, Rev. Joe Williams; her children, Pamela Louise Calvert (Rocky), Angela Sue Nye (Garry), and Waylan Allan Williams (Nicholle); her grandchildren, Jacob Calvert (Deana), Courtney Wagner (Jake), Brian Williams, Andrew Calvert, Natalie Stumler (Brandon), Briana Rhodes (Jamie), Byron Williams, Sylvia Hammett (Cullen), and Victoria Gross (Austin); her great-grandchildren, Payden Wagner, Jemma Wagner, Allie Calvert, Sam Calvert, Magnolia Mae Gross, Emma Stumler, Asher Stumler, Brooklyn Stumler, Romi Kai Hammett, and Ember Rayne Rhodes; her sister, Naomi Sullivan; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 11am at Christ Gospel Churches International, (2614 E 10th St, Jeffersonville, IN 47130) with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
