Rev. James D. Biram, age 88 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022. He was a Pastor for 60 plus years in Arkansas, Louisiana and Kentucky. James was also an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for over 60 years. He was a graduate from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 1969 and was the student speaker of his graduating class. He came to Kentucky in 1969 where he would pastor First Assembly of God in Henderson for nineteen years. While there he started the School of the Bible. Throughout the years he served as Sectional Presbyter as well as General Presbyter for the Assemblies of God. In 1988 he was elected District Superintendent of the Kentucky Ministry Network which he held for sixteen years. He and Dick VanHuss were instrumental in starting the Kentucky School of Ministry. He served on the board for Kentucky Teen Challenge. He also was on the Board of Directors of Evangel University in Springfield, MO for fifteen years. Through his leadership, James facilitated the construction of multiple buildings including the Joseph Hardt Activity Center at Camp Crestwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Violet Biram; and his sister, Evelyn Biram Tucker.
James is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joan Johnson Biram; daughter, Cindy Biram Gilland (Mike); son, Darrell Biram (Kristi); seven grandchildren, Stephanie Gilland Jessee, David Gilland, Angela Gilland Spegal, Allison Gilland Myers, Brittany Biram, Trey Biram and Chaili Biram; 9 great-grandchildren, Caleb Jessee, Alec Jessee, Ella Jessee, Jude Gilland, Shepard Gilland, Joanna Gilland, Asher Gilland, Leon Spegal and Abe Spegal; brother, M.D. Biram (Joan); many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Jim loved his family and was a kind and loving husband, dad and papaw. He served as a pastor, teacher, mentor and leader. Jim loved telling people about Jesus.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Evangel World Prayer Center 6900 Billtown Rd, Louisville, KY 40299, from 11am to time of service at 3pm. Burial will be on Thursday, March 17th at 9am at Crosswater Gardens, 7110 Billtown Rd, Louisville, KY 40299. A gathering will be held at First Assembly of God 2208 US-60, Henderson, KY 42420, Henderson, Kentucky on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from noon to 1pm Central time.
Memorials may be made to Grace Assembly of God Building Fund, PO Box 1183 Shelbyville, KY 40066, to honor the life and vision held by Reverend Biram for the local church.
