Renate K. Waddell, a truly amazing woman who graced this world for 96 rich and meaningful years, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026. Born on May 4, 1929, in Augsburg, Germany, Renate embodied a life filled with love, devotion, and a warmth that touched all who knew her.
Renate was a fantastic mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She took great pride in spoiling her loved ones and nurturing a home overflowing with love and laughter. Those treasured moments—whether gathered around watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune or embarking on special outings with her grandchildren—reminded everyone how she made even the simplest occasions feel extraordinary. Her affection extended beyond family to include her beloved fur babies, who were an integral part of her life’s joy.
Her love for gardening and crafts added beauty and creativity to her surroundings, reflecting her gentle spirit and patient nature. Those who witnessed her dedication felt her nurturing touch both in the blooming flowers she tended and in the handmade gifts she lovingly created.
Renate was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Kratzer; father, Andres Kirschner; husband, Charlie R. Waddell Sr.; and sister, Frieda Trujillo. She is survived by her devoted family: sons Charlie R. (Linda) Waddell Jr. and Kenneth P. (Lisa) Waddell; grandchildren Kimberly (Jason), Christopher, Gregory (Chelsea), Zachary (Ersi), Wesley (Amanda), and Alyssa (Charlie); and fifteen great-grandchildren. Their memories of her kindness, guidance, and unwavering love will forever sustain them.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Hospice of Nelson County, for all the care and support shown to them and Renate overtime.
