Rebecca Sue King, 52, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She radiated warmth through her contagious personality and unforgettable smile, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
She graduated from Silver Creek High School and was an enthusiastic football fan, cheering for the Seattle Seahawks and Indiana Hoosiers. Her passion for music and cooking skills created great memories she shared with family and friends. Above all, Rebecca cherished her family and found immense joy in being a grandmother.
Born on June 25, 1972, Rebecca was the daughter of Darlene (Riehle) Smith and the late Robert King. Along with her father, Rebecca was preceded in death by her first love, R. Shane Shemayme.
In addition to her mother, Rebecca leaves behind her daughters: Rebecca "Sam" Shemayme, Allyson Shemayme (Cameron Gettelfinger, Sr.), and Kennedy "Tayler" King (Marquise White). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Selena Shemayme, Knowledge Gresham, Sage Shemayme, Kylinn White, Kniyanee Gresham, Messiah White, Knemiri Gresham, and Cameron Gettelfinger, Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Robert "Mike" King, and her former husband, Barry Lynch.
Rebecca touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
