Raymond Eugene Striegel, 96, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019. Raymond was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Hobart Beach VFW Post 1693, the Bonnie Sloan American Legion, and the Floyd County Conservation Club. Raymond was a proud W.W.II veteran of the United States Army who served under Gen. George S. Patton. He was a retired supervisor of many public services and a past deputy sheriff of Floyd County.
He was born on May 17, 1923, in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to the late Aloysius, Sr., and Rosa (Egler) Striegel. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Norma (Batliner) Striegel; grandson, Kevin Striegel; and brother, Aloysius Striegel, Jr.
Raymond is survived by his loving children, Raymond L. "Pete" (Peggy) Striegel, Richard G. (Delores) Striegel, Ronald J. (Libby) Striegel, Roger C. (Barbara) Striegel, Reed P. (Susan) Striegel, and Rozalyn S. (Jeff) Wolverton; 25 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to Madison Kannapel for all her love, support, and care for Raymond.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany. His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church - New Albany with entombment and military honors to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
