Raymond Ellis Mills

Raymond Ellis Mills, 87, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021. Raymond truly lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for photography, loved to dance, and played softball past the age of 80. Raymond enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a gifted guitar player and an avid IU fan. He retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of employment.

He was born on May 11, 1933, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, to the late Willis and Millie (Scrogham) Mills. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Danny Ray Mills; and siblings, Junior Mills, Hazel Scott, Ethel Eldridge, Donnie Mills, and Bobby Mills.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Mills; son, Samuel (Julie) Mills; daughter, Diana (Mark) Gilstrap; daughter, Fhonda (Mark) Miller; stepdaughter, Connie (Bill) Schroeder; stepdaughter, Peggy (Carl) Woods; siblings, Doug Mills, Carl (Emma) Mills, Judy Mills, and Darlene (Rob) Stillson; 6 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Woods Cemetery in Otisco, Indiana.
