Raymond "Sonny" Fuqua

Raymond "Sonny" Fuqua, age 85 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.  He was born on October 25, 1938 to the late Raymond Fuqua, Sr. and Margret Fuqua.  He was the only son and grew up with 3 sisters.  Sonny spent some years enlisted in the Army Reserve.  He was retired from Boland Maloney Lumber Company as a truck driver with 37 years of service.  He was an amazing man who loved to go to Florida, fishing, laughing and being with family.  He was a loving and giving man who would talk to anyone and make a friend.  He was married and divorced to Patricia Fuqua.  Sonny became a father figure to Meg Fuqua and grandfather figure to her daughters.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, David Spalding; and his nephew, Gary Fuqua.

Sonny is survived by his daughter, Amy Spalding; granddaughter, Brittany Earp (who took care of him during the last year of his life); grandson, Trenten Spalding; niece, Terry Davis; and many other family members that loved him dearly.  

He is loved and will be greatly missed.  

A gathering to celebrate Sonny's life will be from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
