Raymond Leo Atkins

July 12, 1929 — February 19, 2020

Raymond Leo Atkins, 90, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Raymond was a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, the Bonnie Sloan American Legion, the Hobart Beach VFW Post, and the Floyds Knobs Conservation Club. He loved playing cards, spending time at the Legion, and enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Indiana Hoosiers.

He was born on July 12, 1929, in Floyd County, Indiana, to the late Earl and Vera (Smith) Atkins. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin, Carl, and Larry Atkins.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Martha (Roll) Atkins; daughter, Theresa (Stephen) Harpenau; granddaughter, Amy (Macauley) Miller; and brother, David (Mary) Atkins.

Memorial Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany. His Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs.

The family requests that contributions in Raymond's memory be made to St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and the American Cancer Society.
