Ray M. Wyss, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018. He was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War and frequently attended the YMCA in his youth. He was a sports enthusiast and loved cheering for IU Basketball. Throughout his years, he enjoyed many things, from college football, going on Boy Scout outings, traveling, canoeing, playing Euchre, and being on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries. Out of all the things he enjoyed in his life, the most enjoyable was spending time with his family.
He was born on February 27, 1933, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Joseph J. and Rose Mae (Philips) Wyss. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Wyss; and brother-in-law, Robert Auriti.
Ray is survived by his life-time companion, Jean Grose; children, Pamala Huckabone (Kevin), Karin Cornell (Kenneth), and Eric Wyss (Cheri); grandchildren, Jonathan Huckabone (Alyssa), Heather Wyss-Lee (Jin Yeong), Erin Kollmann (Jacob), Matthew Cornell, Ashley Wyss, and William Huckabone; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul Wyss (Mary), Wayne Wyss (June), and Marilyn Auriti; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany. His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
