Ray Smith

Ray Smith, 77, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015. Ray retired from Louisville Gas & Electric after 38 years and was a member of Beechland Baptist. He was a Master Mason and an avid UK basketball fan. He enjoyed caring for his garden, horse racing, and traveling.

Ray was born in Louisville on April 5, 1938, to the late Jesse and Eva Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Smith, Jr. and one sister, Shirley Howell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Rayona (Boston) Smith; daughter, Becky Skinner (Rob); grandson, Ryan Rhodes; siblings, Rita Wright, Buddy Smith (Rosalie), Linda Salmon (Charles), Marilyn Brown (Jim), Carolyn Musgrove (Roger), and Debby Brown (Roger); brother-in-law, Gerald Boston (Brenda Newton); and sisters-in-law Nancy Twomey (Darrell) and Cathy Walker (Don).

Visitation from 2:30pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). Funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30am Wednesday at the funeral home with burial following in Louisville Memorial Gardens - West.
