Ras Thomas Ellis, was born on October 9, 1946, to the late William and Anna Ellis in Louisville, KY. He departed this life on Friday, February 7, 2025. At an early age, he professed his faith at Calvary United Methodist Church and later united with New Horizon Baptist Church. Ras was a graduate of Westport High School where he was a standout football player. Ras met and married Pamela A. Phelps in 1981. Ras worked for Coca-Cola and Industrial Disposal, which he retired from. Ras loved attending church and served as a deacon and a member of The Bishop Boys Choir. He remained steadfast in his faith even when his health began to falter. He was a die-hard UofL fan. In addition to watching sports, he loved being with his family and being the life of the party. He also loved traveling and taking family trips. Ras loved his daughters and grandchildren. He would finish every conversation with letting them know how proud he was of them, and how much he loved them.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Pamela A. Ellis; daughters, Anna Ellis and RasShauna Ellis (DeMarcus), grandchildren, Toni, Lindsey, Christopher and Charley, three sisters-in-law, Deborah Gober, Anita Phelps, and Jackie Phelps, and two brothers-in-law Herman Phelps, Jr. and Kenneth Phelps; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.
