Ralph Edwin Simons Sr.

Ralph Edwin Simons Sr., a devoted family man and lifelong truck driver, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in Guston, Kentucky. Born on November 11, 1937, in Hamilton, Bermuda, Ralph’s life was richly marked by his love for the open road and his passion for sharing these adventures with his son Richard, as they traveled together as team drivers.

Ralph’s career as a dedicated truck driver spanned many years, during which he appreciated the freedom of the highway and the opportunity to explore the country. Beyond his professional life, he found joy in NASCAR, tending to his garden, and most importantly, spending cherished time with his beloved dog Barney and his family.

Ralph is survived by a loving family that includes his sons, Richard (Melissa) Simons and Ralph (Glenda) Simons Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Lesa Kay Simons; and his grandchildren, Savannah (Bryan), David (Marche), Rose (Marcus), Roy (Shay), Ross, Michelle, and Kelly. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Autumn, Tommy, Nathan, Bryan, Katelynn, Layla, Leona, Colton, Courtney, Cody, Cassidy, and Calliope. Ralph also leaves behind his brother, Alan (Linda) Simons, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him warmly.

Preceding Ralph in death were his beloved wife, Irma Simons; his son, Roy Herbert Simons Sr.; his parents, Emmanuel and Mary Simons; and siblings Freda Delong, Ruth Desilver, Harold Flood, James Simons, Herbert Simons, and Stanley Simons.

A visitation to honor Ralph’s life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Lane in New Albany, Indiana. The visitation will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and continue on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow on Friday, June 19, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will follow are Central Barren Cemetery.

Ralph Edwin Simons Sr. will be remembered as a steadfast and caring individual whose love for family and the open road inspired all who knew him. His memory will forever endure in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
