Louisville

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of  Rachel Leigh McCord-Watson, aged 27, of Louisville, Kentucky, who left this world on Friday, August 30, 2024. Rachel was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, twin, niece, and friend, radiant spirit brought joy to all fortunate enough have known her.

Born on February 18, 1997, in Louisville, Rachel was the cherished daughter of Mark and Rena (Pruitt) McCord. She was known for her kindness, strength, humor, and unwavering helpfulness to those in need. Rachel had a profound love for the arts, often expressing herself through painting, drawing, and playing the violin. Her true passion, however, lay in creating lasting memories with her family and caring tenderly for her beloved cats—Edo, Ollie, and Ittlebit.

Rachel’s legacy is carried on by many. She is survived by her devoted husband, Justin Tyler Watson; her father, Mark Thomas McCord; her brother, Jeremy Toles; and her twin sister, Rebecca (Joseph) Compton, along with her sister, Marena (Shemari McKoy) McCord. Additionally, she leaves behind a loving extended family, which includes aunts Melissa (Scott) Corn, Sharon McCord, Diana (Joey) Murrell; uncle Michael (Margaret) McCord; numerous cousins, and a multitude of friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Preceded in death by her mother, Rena Jo McCord, as well as her grandparents—Jimmy Pruitt, Bonnie Pruitt, Betty McCord, and Robert McCord—Rachel’s absence is deeply felt by those who were privileged to be part of her life.
