Rachel D. Ford

Rachel D. Ford, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left this world on September 23, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on May 9, 1969, in San Antonio, Texas, Rachel embodied warmth, kindness, and a zest for the simple pleasures life had to offer.

Throughout her life, Rachel enjoyed rich connections with those around her, especially her cherished church family. She deeply valued the strength and fellowship found within her community, often engaging in activities that brought joy and solace. Rachel’s passion for understanding the beauty in everyday moments mirrored her compassionate spirit, making her a source of light to all who knew her.

Rachel's legacy lives on through her loving daughter, Sarah (Dan) Ford, and her adoring grandchildren, Damon, Delaney, Jordan, and Aubree, who will carry forward her teachings of love and simplicity throughout their lives. She leaves behind her dear sister, Venus Gawthrop. Also surviving Rachel are her biological sisters and several cousins. 

Rachel faced immense sorrow with grace, having predeceased her son, Jeremy Ford, and her parents, George and Etta Mae Gawthrop. She is also reunited in spirit with her brother, James Gawthrop, and her beloved grandmother, Frances Hickey, all of whom shaped her life and whom she missed dearly.

A visitation will take place on October 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM  at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. She will be laid to rest in Louisville Memorial Gardens West Cemetery. 

As we remember Rachel, may we find comfort in her gentle spirit and heartfelt laughter, contemplating the memories that unite us with her forever. She will be profoundly missed, but her love and light shall remain firmly rooted in the hearts of her family and friends.
