Phyllis J. Taylor

Phyllis J. Taylor, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 27, 2026, in Louisville, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 31, 1948, in Louisville, and remained closely connected to the city throughout her life.

Phyllis was a graduate of Valley High School and went on to earn her Education degree from Spalding University. She devoted many years of her life to teaching, a calling that reflected her care for others and her steady commitment to helping people learn and grow.

She will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger. Phyllis loved to dance and enjoyed music, bringing warmth and energy wherever she went. She was also a passionate University of Kentucky football fan. At home, she found happiness in gardening and tending to her flowers, and she dearly loved caring for her animals.

Above all, Phyllis treasured her family. She is survived by her sons, Jeff Taylor (Jennifer) and Kerry Taylor (Tisha); her daughter, Kimberly Short (Joseph); 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Darryl Hill. May their memories of her kindness, spirit, and love bring comfort in the days ahead.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hill; her mother, Frances Hill; her sisters, Ginny Hood and Darlene Bell; her sister-in-law, Tracey Hill; and brothers-in-law, Charles Hood and George Bell.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
