Phyllis Florence Powell

Phyllis Florence Powell, aged 91, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her family home on November 15, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Phyllis cherished the time spent with her family and had a passion for camping, traveling to new destinations, bird watching, and watching her favorite baseball team The Chicago Cubs, rarely missing a game. A remarkable cook and a warm-hearted presence, she was the grandmother everyone admired and sought after, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on April 12, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, Phyllis was the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Seiwert) Brei. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Ray Powell; her daughter, Cynthia Kay Hartman; her father, Fred Brei; her mother, Dorothy Brei; and her sister, Jeannette Brei.

Phyllis is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda Powell; her granddaughter, Amber (Brandon) Finley; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Jayden Walker, Elijah Coy, Isabella Coy, and Aaliyah Finley. Additionally, she is remembered by her brother, Bud (Arlene) Brei, along with a wide circle of family members and friends who will cherish her legacy and memories forever.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
