Phyllis Peklenk, lovingly known as “Gran,” age 80, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, surrounded by family.
She was born on December 5, 1945, to the late Ralph and Dorothy Scheibel. Phyllis lived with a quiet strength, deep faith, and a heart that always put others first.
She loved graciously, gave sacrificially, and was the true centerpiece of our family. Phyllis found joy in simple things like reading, puzzles, sunny days on the beach, gathering for Bible study, and being “Gran” to the little ones she adored. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
Faith guided her life. She was a longtime member of Southeast Christian Church, where she built lasting friendships and lived out her belief in loving and serving others.
She is survived by her son, Todd Peklenk, and daughter, Tina Peklenk; her sister, Bonnie Heaton, and brother, Gordon Scheibel; five grandchildren; and four great granddaughters, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom were her pride and joy.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at Southeast Christian Church, Chapel in the Woods, on February 18, visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis’s memory to Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Crestwood.
Those attending are encouraged to wear her favorite color, yellow, in celebration of the light she brought into so many lives.
