Phyllis Shackelford Hedges, 81, of Pewee Valley, KY passed away peacefully on November 6, 2020. She was born on June 13, 1939 in Louisville, KY to James Oscar Shackelford of Ashland, KY and Mary Catherine (Mahoney) Shackelford of New Haven, KY. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Stephen Lee Shackelford.
Phyllis had such an open and loving heart for her family which lead to her interest in her family ancestry. She felt that genealogy wasn't a mere gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who had gone before. She was the ultimate hostess who cooked wonderfully and decorated beautifully for every occasion. Phyllis inherited her father's dry wit and kept us laughing. She left us with an abundance of her artistic creations.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles Thomas Hedges; daughter, Laura Nunley (Tom); daughter, Kathryn Wise (Bo); daughter, Sheila Thompson (Tony); son, Thomas J. Hedges; grandchildren, Tina Krull, Kati Peterson, Mindy Smith, Derek Wise, Heather Hall, Stephen Thompson; great grandchildren, Jacob Peterson, Nick Peterson, Luke Krull, Ava Krull, Dylan Smith, Henry Smith, Colton Hall, Makenzie Hall, Logan Hall; Sister-in-law, Barbara Shackelford; niece, Tara Lawton; great niece, Quinn.
A private service will be held and Phyllis will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, KY.
