Phyllis Ann Diaz

Phyllis Ann Spangler Diaz, 89, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. Born on April 5, 1937, in Longacre, West Virginia. A graduate of Montgomery High School in West Virginia, later she worked at Hykens, where she specialized in selling designer clothing, bringing style and elegance to many.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter Anna Foster (Mark McQuillen), and son Michael Diaz (Brenda Barnes), two granddaughters, Autumn Owlett (Joe) and Rachel Foster (Aaron), great-grandchildren: Palmer, Soren, and Warren Nance. The family circle also includes her brother Jerry Spangler, and sisters Patty Huber, Gloria Roberti, Kathy Sizemore, and host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors who all carry forward cherished memories of her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Carrie Bailey Spangler; her son, Jeffrey Alan Diaz; as well as her brothers Richard, Frank, and Gary Spangler; and sisters Messel Abshire and Sharon Bird.

The community and family will gather to honor and celebrate Phyllis’s life on May 12, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home in East Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. This time will provide a moment for all who knew her to remember her warmth, style, and enduring spirit.
