Phyllis M. (Briner) Chandler, 71, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Phyllis was a skilled homemaker in every sense of the word and enjoyed quilting, baking, sewing, and listening to music. She will be remembered as a loving, mother, grandmother, and sister who always had a smile on her face.
She was born on June 23, 1950, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late William, Sr., and Edith (Gillespie) Briner. Along with her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her siblings, Lonny Briner, Carrie Briner, and Urban Briner.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Marvin Wise, Jr., Carrie (George) Ray, Connie (Michael) New, and Michelle (Will) Newby; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betsy (Charles) Anderson, William (Judy) Briner, Jr., Elmyra (Jack) Cummins, Russell (Lori) Briner, Mary (Bill) Craigmyle, Jerry (Sissy) Briner, and LaWanda (Bobby) Halfacre; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). A Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Silver Creek Cemetery in Sellersburg, Indiana.
The family requests that contributions in Phyllis' memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
