Phyllis A. (Shinault) Barber, previously known as Wingfield, Blackwell, and Harris, passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on September 3, 1940.
For many years, Phyllis worked as a secretary at New Hanover Regional Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina. Throughout her life, Phyllis lived in several states, moving with her first husband, William "Tupper" Wingfield, from Washington to New York. She had a deep love for her family, plants, and enjoyed watching HSN, QVC, and episodes of Andy Griffith.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and three of her five sons: Francis "Frank" (Vonna), John (Demetria), and Charles "Chuck" (Leigh) Wingfield. She is survived by her remaining sons, William "David" (Joann) Wingfield and Grayson Blackwell.
Phyllis’ legacy continues through her grandchildren, Ryan and Zachary Wingfield, Shannon (Jimmy) Duckworth, Kyle (Beth) Wingfield, Haley and Jared Acebedo, Mark and Janice Wingfield, as well as her great-grandchildren, which includes six boys, two girls, and two great-great-grandsons.
Phyllis' wish was to be cremated with no funeral ceremony.
The family requests that contributions in Phyllis' memory be made to St. Jude Hospital.
