Phyllis Alvey

Phyllis Elizabeth Alvey, age 75, of Radcliff, KY, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on August 6, 2026, in Elizabethtown, KY, surrounded by the love of her family.

Phyllis was born on May 12, 1951, in Louisville, KY, to Elizabeth M. Patterson and Jess W. Farmer Sr. She grew up in Louisville, KY. On June 2, 1986, she married the love of her life, Daniel Alvey Sr., and together they spent the next 40 wonderful years building a marriage filled with love, laughter, and a lifetime of cherished memories. 

Phyllis had a gift for making everyone around her laugh. Her light heartedness and infectious sense of humor could light up any room, but it was her unwavering devotion to her children and grandchildren that defined her most. She had a servant's heart, always finding ways to care for and comfort others before herself. She found joy in the simple things, a quiet morning with a cup of coffee, an afternoon lost in a craft project, or a kitchen filled with the smell of something delicious. Anyone who knew her can still taste her famous lemon bars, a sweet reminder of the love she poured into everything she made. 

Phyllis leaves behind her devoted husband, Daniel Earl Alvey Sr.; her children, Scott Sprowles (Carrie), Alicia Alvey, Erin Atcher (Chris), and Daniel Earl Alvey Jr. (Christina); her cherished grandchildren, Isabella, Logan, Kane, Elizabeth, Jack, and Anna; her sisters, Carol Polk and Sandra Underwood; her brother, Ted Farmer; her faithful companion and beloved dog, Peanut, and her soon-to be great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Don Farmer and Jess Farmer Jr. 

Phyllis's greatest pride and joy was her children, she loved them fiercely and without condition. She poured her heart into every relationship she touched, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and warmth that will live on in all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, a treasured grandmother, lovingly known as "Meme", and a true friend to many. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to shine in every memory shared and every lemon bar baked in her honor. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Phyllis's beautiful life at a visitation to be held on Thursday August 13, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with her service to begin at 5:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
