Phillip Owens

Phillip Owens, 66, of Louisville, KY, originally from Meridian, Mississippi went home to be with his Heavenly Father, January 25, 2017. He was a former employee of Jefferson County Public Works. He was a master chef of cooking and grilling and fishing was one of his favorite hobbies. His family meant the world to him. Phillip was an inspiration to many people and his motto was "If I can do it, you can do it."

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Lee Owens, daughter, Phillisa McBride; sisters, Michelle Owens and Emma Jean Thomas; brother, Robert Owens and grandmother, Emma Harris.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Owens, whom he married February 27, 2005; children, Antwan Matthews, Philmeka Matthews, Shawnzetta Matthews and Laticia Johnson; sister, Angela Denise Owens; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Word of Faith Christian Life Center, 3600 W. Broadway, Louisville, KY, from 11am-1pm with a celebration of Phillip's life beginning at 1pm.

Burial will be at Green Meadows Cemetery, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY.
