Phillip Wayne McClain, age 55, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Jewish Hospital. Phillip had been sick for many years but fought a good fight to the end. He was born August 13, 1964, in Louisville, KY, son of the late Dianne Marie McClain and Otis Simpson. Phillip graduated from Jeffersontown High School in 1982 and attended Rets Technical School. Phillip was employed with various restaurants as a cook over the years. Phillip loved to cook, he was an avid U of L fan, he liked all sorts of music, attended church and he also liked being with family and friends.
Phillip leaves to cherish precious memories his Son DeAndre, Brothers, Kenneth (Cassandra) McClain, Derek Spalding. Aunts, Annette Majors, Deborah (Joe) Smith, Uncle, William (Vern) McClain Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. His best friends Kevin Morgan, Bernard a.k.a Round, Dee Eddins and a host of other friends. God-sons Roland and Rollins Mitchell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents William and Delsie McClain Sr., Uncles, Sonny McClain and Archie McClain.
A gathering to celebrate Phillip's life will be Monday, August 17, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky (in Middletown) from 5 to 7 pm, with a memorial service to be held at 7 pm.
