Listen to Obituary

Phillip Joseph Ketterer, affectionately known as Phil, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, in Clarksville, Indiana, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on September 20, 1950, in Louisville, Phil’s life was marked by deep devotion to his faith, family, and a lifelong passion for learning.

A proud graduate of Atherton High School, Phil furthered his education by earning an associate’s degree in accounting from Murray State University. His pursuit of knowledge did not end there; he continued attending classes at the University of Louisville and other institutions, demonstrating his enduring commitment to education. This thirst for knowledge was complemented by a strong work ethic, as he dedicated himself to his career as a sales representative for the call center at the United States Census Bureau, a position he deeply enjoyed.

Phil was much more than his professional achievements. He was a loving son, devoted brother, and loyal uncle and friend—known for his intelligence, diligence, and steadfast faith as a Roman Catholic. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, inspiring him to faithfully attend services at St. Benedict’s Traditional Roman Catholic Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and community. Phil’s dedication to God and his Church was evident to all who knew him.

Beyond his career and faith, Phil's heart was filled with the simple joys of life. He cherished family gatherings, where he always thought warmly of those he loved. He found peace and pleasure in fishing and camping, relishing the tranquility of nature. Board games were another delight, bringing laughter and camaraderie with family and friends. These moments reflected a man who was not only devoted but also joyful and present in the lives of those around him.

Phil’s warm spirit and loving nature remain vivid in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his devoted siblings: Mary Ann Ketterer, Lisa Taylor (Denis), John “Johnny” F. (Pamela) Ketterer, and David Ketterer, along with 13 adoring nieces and nephews, who carry forward his memory and love. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Theresa Antionette and Alfred Clarence Ketterer, as well as Christopher “Chris” S. Ketterer, Sr., whose legacies he honored throughout his life.

A visitation will be held on June 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 1240 Matha Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky, 40215, with burial to follow at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany Indiana.

Phil’s journey on this earth has ended, but the impact of his kindness, his faith, and his enduring love for family will echo in the lives he touched. In remembering Phil, we honor a man who lived with integrity, warmth, and a heart committed to both God and those dear to him. May he rest in eternal peace.
