Phillip Edward Douglas

Phillip Edward Douglas, 76, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. He worked a variety of jobs over the course of his life with the primary being the Maintenance Mechanic for the Flood Control division of the state of California. Phil also served as the Fire Chief for the city of Sutter, California, for 17 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Old Capital United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Grace (Hottell) Douglas; daughter, Crystal Taylor (Todd); son, Erik Andrews (Lori); grandchildren, Merideth Ritchie, Wesley Taylor, Genna Taylor, Dalton Andrews, and Wintur Rose; sons, Paul and Phillip Douglas; grandson, Matthew Douglas; all residing in Rio Linda, California; siblings, Dovie Hamlet of Shepherdville, Kentucky, Georgia Knight of Crestwood, Kentucky, and Ernie Douglas of Louisville, Kentucky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ovie Douglas; and siblings, Jackie, James, and Mary.

Cremation was chosen following Phil's wishes. A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Old Capital United Methodist Church.
