Phillip Anderson Baynard, Sr., 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was an avid fan of the Louisville Cardinals and Motown music. Phillip enjoyed spending time with his family, participating in marathons, and also riding his bicycle.
He was born on November 23, 1948, in Green Castle, Indiana, to Walter Baynard II and Anna (Alvis) Baynard. In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his siblings, Anthony Baynard, Emerson Baynard, James "Ricky" Baynard, Albert Johnson, and Walter Baynard III.
Phillip is survived by his children, Tracey McNeil and Phillip Baynard, Jr.; companion, Yvonne Leslie; siblings, Phyllis Woodford (Phillip Bizor), Timothy Baynard, Sr. (Patti), Wayne Baynard (Iva), Barry Baynard, Sr. (Stephani), Frances Smith, Patricia Prentice (Jerry), Rosemary Clark (Michael), Leon Johnson (Helen), and Janet Smith; grandchildren, Daniel and Maya McNeil; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 3:00 p.m. Cremation will follow according to Phillip's wishes.
