Penny (Rowe) Vanfleet

October 23, 1957 — March 28, 2017

Penny (Rowe) VanFleet, 59, a kind-hearted and gentle soul, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. She possessed an artistic flair and enjoyed both crocheting and painting. Penny seemed to always have a way to find those that needed love the most and, in turn, shared her love with them.

She was born on October 23, 1957, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Arthur and Vilaea (Brown) Rowe. Penny was also preceded in death by her brothers, David and Ronald Rowe.

Penny is survived by her long-time companion, Scott VanFleet; the father of her children, Roger Mayfield; daughters, Michelle Miller and Melissa Mayfield; stepchildren, Tiffany, Adam, and Jeremy VanFleet; brother, Cecil Rowe; sister-in-law, Maxine Rowe; 7 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Byrneville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Penny's memory may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
