Peggy Elizabeth (Der Ohanian) Barrett, 67, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020. She graduated from New Albany High School in 1971 and was an avid Bulldogs fan. Peggy spent her career working as a nurse and EMT. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed cooking large meals for their gatherings. Peggy enjoyed horses and was a fan of the Kentucky Derby.

Peggy was an incredibly talented singer and member of Bel Canto and Student Theater. She was also a member of the Kentucky Opera Association and a life-long member of Park Christian Church in New Albany, where she participated for many years in the choir.

Peggy was born on September 19, 1953 in New Albany, Indiana to Jeanne (Callahan) Der Ohanian and the late Harry Der Ohanian. Along with her mother, Peggy is survived by her siblings, Ruth Fondrisi (Joe), T. Dian Phillips, Robert Der Ohanian (Sharon), Rebecca Der Ohanian Floyd; friend and former husband, Bob Barrett, Sr.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care. A celebration of Peggy's life will be announced at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to the family in care of the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
