Pearlie Mae Johnson

Pearlie Mae Foster Johnson was born on July 6, 1949, in Swiftown, Leflore County, Mississippi, to the late Eugene and Rosie Lee Collins Foster. Pearlie accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Pleasant Geer Baptist Church in Swiftown, Mississippi.

In her later years, after meeting her beloved late husband, Robert Lee Johnson, Pearlie moved to Louisville, Kentucky. There, she became a devoted member of Community Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend William E. Shoemake. She later joined Greater First Timothy Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, where she served faithfully as the President of the Senior Usher Board, first under the late Dr. L.A. Ramsey and currently under the leadership of Reverend Jasper Jackson III.

Pearlie worked diligently at the Residence Inn Marriott for 17 years before retiring in 2015. She was known for her unwavering faith, loving spirit, and commitment to her family, church, and community.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, James E. Foster (Heather), three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Pearlie is also survived by her siblings: Johnny Foster of Louisville, Kentucky; Gradie Jackson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Reverend Joe L. Jackson and Adam Jackson (Pam) of Belzoni, Mississippi; and two sisters, Rosie Kimber and Patricia Goree of Belzoni, Mississippi; brother-in-law Reverend Leon Minniefield of Indianola, Mississippi; a multitude of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, including a friend of sixty years, Magnolia Williams of Rockford, Illinois, and Angie Davis-Clark, a friend and sister for eighteen years.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Willie, Aaron, and James, and her sister Mattie.

Pearlie was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Great First Timothy Missionary Church, 1520 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 10am-12pm with a celebration of Pearlie's life beginning at 12pm.

Following services at the church there will be graveside services at Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 State Road, Highway 208, Lebanon, KY 40033, beginning at 2:30pm.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the Hildegard House for the compassionate care and love they provided to Pearlie in her final days.
