Paula Jean Phillips, affectionately known as "The Nan" to those closest to her, left this earth peacefully on March 29, 2026 with her devoted husband by her side and was welcomed into eternity by her savior, Jesus. Born on April 13, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, Paula lived a life rich with love, faith, and dedication to her family and the Lord.
A lifelong resident of Louisville, Paula built a meaningful career and retired from Rolston & Purina, yet her true pride and joy rested in the role she cherished most: being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her proudest accomplishment was being a mom to her four daughters and a beloved Nan to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a title she carried with immense tenderness and pride.
Paula was a devoted member of Parkwood Baptist Church, where her deep faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found great solace and strength in studying her Bible and was always seeking ways to share the good news of the gospel message. Her commitment extended beyond the walls of her church, as she generously volunteered as a hosparus volunteer, providing comfort and compassion to those in their most vulnerable times. Her gentle spirit blossomed in the simple pleasures of life; she enjoyed cooking, hosting family events and holiday gatherings, tending to her garden, and watching Gun Smoke.
Paula is survived by the loving family who meant the world to her: her husband of 60 years, Jim Phillips; her daughters Dawn (Brian) King, Dana (Brooks) Tucker, Deanna Phillips, and Dori (Billy) Ross; and her cherished grandchildren Jordan (Lucy) Metzmeier, Brianna (Dustin) Brunner, Marissa (Travis) Nellums, Zane Tucker, Zoey Tucker, Savannah Ross, Summer Ross, and Sage Ross. Her love also extended to her great-grandchildren Teagan Lewis, Hamish Lewis, and Levi Brunner. Paula is further survived by her sister Marsha Neumann, sister Tina (Robby) Ayers, and brother-in-law Ron (Gail) Osborne. They, along with all who knew her, carry forward her legacy of warmth and grace.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Peggy Sharpe, and her brother Gary Sharpe Sr., who remain forever in her heart.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paula’s life and pay their respects during both visitations at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. The first will be held on Monday, April 6th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Tuesday, April 7th from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow on April 7th at 11:00 AM at the same location. She will then be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Paula Jean Phillips leaves behind a legacy rooted in faith, family, and serving others. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her, reflecting a life beautifully lived for the Lord, a heart endlessly loving, and a spirit built for worship. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as "The Nan" whose love knew no bounds.
